Volunteer Ministers

Adult Volunteers

Our Ministry DEPENDS upon willing adult volunteers. Without enough help, our level of activity and ministry cannot be sustained.

Our youth ministry at OLOH has been growing in a beautiful way. We had over 60 JH teens at our last event, and more than 80 freshmen are joining the high school ministry next year.

All of this means we are always in need of more faithful adults to be ministers, mentors and leaders! Young adults, parents, empty-nesters, we have people at all stages of life ministering now, and no matter your state in life we can use your talents to serve the Lord in the youth of our parish.

In addition to face-to-face mentors, we can use assistance in a variety of ways:

  • help to plan or evaluate ministry once a month
  • drive or chaperone trips
  • stuff bulletins or organize information occasionally
  • even cook for youth group!

Teen Peer Ministers

We have two groups of Peer Ministers:

  • High school ministers meet once a month to plan and give input for youth group meetings, as well as to pray together and continue learning how to be better ministers. They also commit to coming to most Wednesday night youth groups and taking a leadership role there.
  • Ministers to the junior high are invited to one or more junior high meetings a month, including every Second Sunday youth group. Their role is to be models for the JH teens, to encourage them in activities and prayer, and occasionally to lead small groups.

In both of these ministries, teens respond to Christ’s request that we make disciples of all the earth, and give of themselves to help others to know and follow Christ better. God never fails to reward those who love Him and help others to love Him more.

We are participating in a group teambuilding/training day at Hemlock Overlook on August 21st. If you need more info, click here, for the medical waiver, click here.

If you are interested in being a peer minister, email or call Ed.  olhyouth@yahoo.com .
